How to get an enquiry for a fiver

Online marketing has come on leaps and bounds over the past few years, and it’s truly amazing how well you can both target very niche audiences and importantly track the progress of your adverts.
Popular paid-for advertising includes our two favourites Facebook Ads and Google AdWords.
Over the past few weeks we’ve set up a Facebook campaign for a local garage who now offer MOTs, for a cost of £43 we’ve generated 97 visits to their MOTs page, plus of course many phone calls as the advert has been shown to 10,840 local people.
Jody the garage’s owner has said “Thanks for doing the advert, the results have been amazing and our phone hasn’t stopped ringing”, we can’t complain about that.
We also use Google AdWords who use the PPC (pay per click) model. One branch of AdWords is called 'remarketing'. If you’ve ever visited a website and then seen adverts for it all over the internet, this is likely the reason.
Users who visit your website are shown your adverts on thousands of third party websites, you literally follow them around as they browse the web. One advantage of remarketing is you only pay if a user actually clicks your advert, so anyone who doesn’t is continually reminded of your brand and it doesn’t cost you a penny.
Another advantage is you can set up tracking code so that when they do visit your website it lets you know whether they’ve been in touch or, in the case of an online shop, bought something.
Over the past couple of weeks our remarketing bill was £11.36, and from this we’ve had 11 visits to our website, and out of these 2 users have used our online enquiry form to get in touch. So even if we assume that the 9 others didn’t phone (which is unlikely), we’ve essentially bought 2 enquiries for just over £5 each, definitely worthwhile.
Unlike traditional marketing where there’s a lot of guesswork, online marketing is great. You can target specific demographics, and importantly can track results.
It certainly isn’t like writing an open cheque as some people believe; in fact it’s far from it. If a campaign isn’t working you can see it and make changes, and if it is working you can up the budget and enjoy the additional enquiries or sales.
Facebook Ads and Google AdWords are very comprehensive platforms, but they are only two of the many options in the online marketing world.
